My Summer 2016 Must-See Movie List

I always get excited to see what the upcoming, summer blockbusters are going to be; but I feel as though we’ve all been let down over the past few years.  Last year in particular was really disappointing…   I’m not sure that there was even one must-see movie in the theaters.  (Then again, I’m a mom, so I can’t even remember what I had for breakfast.  So I’m sure there was at least one good movie that came out).

But still, you catch my drift.  😉  It wasn’t a good summer, when it came to movie releases.

This year, however, promises to be different!  There are some really good movies coming out (based on the trailers), and I thought I’d share with you a few that I’m really looking forward to seeing!

So sit back, relax, and watch some trailers with me on this rainy Sunday!  🙂

Now You See Me 2  (Friday June 10th)

I really enjoyed the first movie, so I’m excited to see if the sequel will measure up.

Finding Dory (June 17th)

Finding Nemo was – in my opinion – one of the most colorful cartoons ever produced by Disney.  It was also full of heart, lovable characters, and Dory.  Dory was a favorite to everyone, and I’m pretty excited that she gets her very own movie now.  I’ll probably wait for the DVD release on this one, but – still – it’s a must-see for anyone with kids.  🙂

Central Intelligence (June 17th)

I can’t watch the trailer for this movie without cracking up.  I love The Rock, and Kevin Hart is hilarious in this trailer.  I really, really want to see this one!

The Legend of Tarzan (July 1st)

I’m kind of embarrassed to admit it, but I’m really looking forward to this movie.

*insert sheepish grin*

I’ve kind of been obsessed with the love story between Tarzan and Jane,  ever since I watched a black and white movie about it years ago.  I imagine this will be cheesy  and full of unbelievable action scenes.  And I can’t wait to see it!  😉

The Secret Life of Pets (July 8th)

This cartoon looks beyond adorable!  Must…see…this!  🙂

Star Trek Beyond (July 22nd)

Don’t hate me, but I’m not a huge Star Trek fan.  Still, I can appreciate the movies just as much as the next person.  This is definitely a must-see.

Jason Bourne (July 29th)

Matt Damon is back as Jason Bourne.  Need I say more?  No, I didn’t think so…

Pete’s Dragon (August 12th)

We all grew up watching Pete’s Dragon.  Now we get to experience it all over again.  I’m really excited about this one!

Florence Foster Jenkins (August 12th – not yet rated)

This movie looks SO heartwarming, I can’t even stand it.

Beauty and the Beast –

And although it doesn’t come out until March, I HAVE to post the teaser trailer for the movie I’m MOST excited about – the live-action retelling of Beauty and the Beast.  I am SO excited about this!!!

Also on my watch list is this one…  All I can say is “wow.”  Powerful!  Bring kleenex, for sure!

Which movies are on your must-watch list?

  1. Thanks for this post!! We’ve been so busy with our new business I have NO idea what’s on the horizon in movie land. I’ll have to keep this post handy to bookmark my own must-sees.

    1. How is the business going?? 🙂
There are definitely some fun movies coming out this summer! I’m hoping Nate and I get some date-nights out, for sure. Let me know if you see any movies that are good!!

  2. I hadn’t seen the preview for Florence Foster Jenkins, but it looks sooo good! I’m definitely most excited about Beauty and the Beast! And maybe I’ll feel brave enough to leave my little guy with babysitter by March!!

    1. Doesn’t it?? I hadn’t seen previews for Florence Foster Jenkins yet either, and then I did a quick search for upcoming movies and it came up. It looks SO sweet!!
I think that date-night to see Beauty and the Beast in March is a great goal! (Although I recommend seeing one just before then… I didn’t enjoy my first movie out, because I was a nervous wreck. 😉 But the second time I left my little guy with a sitter, I felt so much more confident, and I had fun). 🙂

  3. ahhhh YES! I’m really pumped about Now You See Me 2. The original was on tv over the weekend so I watched it in preparation for the second. The Secret Life of Pets! Never heard of that one but it looks hilarious! And yes, I too will see Star Trek Beyond. I saw the first only because of Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto but it was actually good, then the second was great too, so I’m in! Several of these other movies sound great too. Might be a good year for movies!

Let’s be honest though… how many of these will we actually see?!? I know I go to the movies umm maaaaaybe twice per year. Maybe. I might watch less than five at home in addition to that, so that’s not very many.

You have great taste in movies! Keep us posted if/when you see any!

    1. Oh, I know! I have a nice long to-see movie list, but I’m not exactly sure how many I’ll actually see. 😉 Although Nate and I have already told my mom that we’re more than willing to let her babysit Brady for a couple of hours here and there, so that he and I can have a date-night out at the movies. 🙂 It’s been awhile, since he and I have gone out without Brady.
Nate and I used to see EVERY good movie that came out, because we’re huge movie buffs. But that doesn’t happen anymore… 🙂 Hoping to see a bunch of movies this summer though! I’ll definitely let you know my thoughts if – and when – I see any of them!
