I’ve been realizing lately that I tend to wear the same clothes to the same places… on the same days. (Oh, don’t worry, I wash my clothes between wearing!). 🙂 But I just have my usual (a.k.a. safe and familiar) outfits that I wear to church, work, and out with friends. And while my initial frustration with this left me with a desire to go shopping, an even greater desire to stay within budget left me with the realization that I just need to go shopping in my own closet.
There are always forgotten items of clothing or jewelry that can be combined to create new looks.
SO I decided to begin a segment called ‘What I Wore Wednesday’. I’m not yet sure if this will be a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly thing. But I DO know that I very much need this challenge to be more creative with what I wear.
Outfit #1 — Worship Leading at church
This past summer, I had picked up this cute T from The Loft (on sale for only $10 at an outlet store). It has a fitted waste and lace trim along the neckline, giving it comfort but also a touch of class.
To turn it into an outfit more appropriate for this time of year, I paired it with a dark gray cardigan (also from The Loft) and a floral scarf (Land’s End from Sears). To complete the look, I wore light-gray slacks, kitten heels, and dangly silver earrings.
OUTFIT #2 — Coffee date with my sister
I’m a bargain shopper to the core, so I rarely buy clothes that are full-price. But every once in awhile, I come across an item that I absolutely love… so in that case, I will — at times — make an exception. I saw this striped tank at the Gap and knew it had to come home with me. The addition of gold dots makes it different, adorable, and versatile. So I have to admit that I paid the full price of $27 this time.
To give it an autumn twist, I paired it with my favorite jeans (American Eagle), tall brown boots, navy-blue cover-up, and a mustard scarf (Target).
Which outfit is your favorite?? 🙂
(I have to admit that the 2nd outfit is DEFINITELY mine).
