What I Wore Wednesday

I’ve been realizing lately that I tend to wear the same clothes to the same places… on the same days. (Oh, don’t worry, I wash my clothes between wearing!). ๐Ÿ™‚ But I just have my usual (a.k.a. safe and familiar) outfits that I wear to church, work, and out with friends. And while my initial frustration with this left me with a desire to go shopping, an even greater desire to stay within budget left me with the realization that I just need to go shopping in my own closet.

There are always forgotten items of clothing or jewelry that can be combined to create new looks.

SO I decided to begin a segment called ‘What I Wore Wednesday’. I’m not yet sure if this will be a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly thing. But I DO know that I very much need this challenge to be more creative with what I wear.

Outfit #1 — Worship Leading at church

This past summer, I had picked up this cute T from The Loft (on sale for only $10 at an outlet store). It has a fitted waste and lace trim along the neckline, giving it comfort but also a touch of class.

To turn it into an outfit more appropriate for this time of year, I paired it with a dark gray cardigan (also from The Loft) and a floral scarf (Land’s End from Sears). To complete the look, I wore light-gray slacks, kitten heels, and dangly silver earrings.

OUTFIT #2 — Coffee date with my sister

I’m a bargain shopper to the core, so I rarely buy clothes that are full-price. But every once in awhile, I come across an item that I absolutely love… so in that case, I will — at times — make an exception. I saw this striped tank at the Gap and knew it had to come home with me. The addition of gold dots makes it different, adorable, and versatile. So I have to admit that I paid the full price of $27 this time.

To give it an autumn twist, I paired it with my favorite jeans (American Eagle), tall brown boots, navy-blue cover-up, and a mustard scarf (Target).

Which outfit is your favorite?? ๐Ÿ™‚
(I have to admit that the 2nd outfit is DEFINITELY mine).

  1. Seriously, Nicole? I love both of these! I’d totally take you out! ha. I love how you add “accessories” and layer to mix things up.

If someone could shop for and dress me every day, I’d probably be a happier person. Or if I could just be low-class and wear pajama pants and a hoodie every day, I’d be so thrilled!

What does Nate think of this series and taking photos of you?

    1. Ha, ha! Hopefully someday we will go out together!! ๐Ÿ™‚ And I totally agree, it would be amazing to have a personal, fashion-expert on hand. (Although the hoodies and PJ’s every day could be nice too… Not gonna lie!).
Nate actually only took the first pic, and my sister was around for the 2nd. Nate is SUCH a good sport when it comes to this sort of thing though. He can be in the middle of a very important video-game battle, and he’ll pause it if I ask him to help me do an outfit shot. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think that while he doesn’t necessarily ‘get it’, he does appreciate when I dress up or feel confident, and he knows how much I love blogging. So he’s super supportive!! ๐Ÿ™‚
